Lola and Olu – DC and Central Park, NY shoot

Wedding season is now in full gear. I’d always wanted to blog engagement shoots before the wedding but due to work load it just hardly happens….so guess when Lola and Olu are heading to the altar…Tomorrow!! So yes I made it! We started in DC and took it to the big Apple. I’ve been close to Central park but never went in, this place is awesome! I have never seen a park with so much character and fun events…I’m definitely going back sometime. A quick thanks to Tomi who assisted me on this shoot.

A few DC shots from their quick “save the date” shoot.

So here was our first Central park shot and it took us about 35mins to get this shot since I wanted this shot without the crowd and trust me this Park is always crowded. Thanks for your perseverance guys, it was worth it. And yeah Tomi was given the finger a few times when she tried to stop some tourist from walking into the shot…lol

Tomi noticed a guy with bubbles and thought we could have some in our shot…thanks Tomi!

Leaving Central Park wouldn’t be complete without showing folks walking around.

We made a quick stop at Gantry Park…FYI for photogs – shooting here requires a permit from NY state govt.

Almost forgot to include this one…shot right in front of the Lincoln memorial. We found some folks playing around so I waited to frame it this way…me likey!

A peak into their guest book. I love these books! This particular book is made with art paper not the regular photographic paper so it feels really nice in hand.

My couple of the week post.

Sometimes I get asked the question how much photoshop I do to my shots but the truth is that I don’t do much and I really don’t know how to do much even if I tried. A few folks that have worked with me know what you see here is very identical to what you see in camera. I may do some white balance, contrast and sharpening but I don’t change backgrounds and do all sort of magical stuffs that you see out there these days, I always say I’m a photographer not a photoshopper! So it’s very important to me to get it right when I shoot. My last wedding someone asked, I like your street shots, do you photoshop the cars in the background? Honestly, I just love shooting on the streets, it’s more like a signature thing than anything else and of course there’s a safety process involved and some boldness from my couples.

The shots below of Shola and Taiwo are just a good example of straight out of camera images. I recognized the light and shot accordingly with no manipulation to the final images. I know you cant enough of Shola and Taiwo so I will be blogging their wedding as well next month.

Kinyue & Eugene Wedding – Baltimore, MD

I shot another beautiful wedding May of this year. It was a Liberian-Bahamian affair and trust me it was gorgeous starting from the couple to their locations. It was my first time shooting such a unique mix – Kinyue is Liberian and Eugene from the Bahamas. It was also my first time shooting at the Hilton Baltimore, this was another unique venue! The lighting there was a bit challenging but I’m happy we pulled it off nicely. Enjoy my personal favorites!

Note : Although, I’m just blogging this but the couple must have received their images a long time ago. Due to my hectic schedule, my priority is always to deliver client images versus updating my personal blog.

The Dance – Kinyue and Eugene

Grazing the blog soon will be Kinyue and Eugene’s E-shoot and their beautiful wedding. I was honored to shoot this beautiful event but while I still work on their wedding pictures I decided to give the couple a glimpse into a view they probably didn’t see much. They had this unique energetic traditional dance from Liberia and i just couldn’t put the camera down for a min..enjoy!

I know brides sometime skimp on interior decor but if you can afford it then hire people who know how to deck up a reception and I will definitely recommend BCG. They work aggressively to make your hall decor look very elegant as the pictures will show.
