Thank you all so much for the many birthday wishes on my last post and on Facebook. It was probably my busiest weekend of the month with back to back events to shoot from Friday to Sunday, so yes I was shooting an event on my birthday
Meet lovely Afia and Nathan, and as you can guess they are getting married this weekend in the Boston Area. I’m actually catching my flight in few hours to join them in Massachusetts.
A little history to this post I’d like to share. We did a quick shoot last year and scheduled the main shoot for sometime early this year. Afia flew in from Connecticut for the shoot and it was just one of those days that it rained heavily in the DC area. The plan was to do a relaxed shoot on the National Mall in their Ghanian Traditional wear. We couldn’t postpone the shoot because Afia had to fly back to Connecticut that same evening for school. I know the indoor locations on the Mall usually have all these restrictions on shooting indoors but we had to shoot something somewhere. When shooting in DC I always walked past the Modern Art Museum but it just looked weird from the outside so I don’t bother going in. We waited for the rain but this thing was going no where, so I made the judgement call to go into the Museum. As we walked in and explored a bit, it turned to be the coolest place I’ve ever shoot in the DC area. We played hide and seek a bit with security to get some shots but overall they where nice to us and let us shoot under some restrictions of course. So lesson learned here that disappointments are blessings in disguise.
Back to the couple, Afia and Nathan definitely one the coolest couple I have this year. I’ve just been so lucky this year to have a line up of cool peeps, can you tell? Very easy going, fun and not trying to out do anyone in their shoots…..DMV folks you know what I mean
We had so much fun on our first shoot and I was going to add a few shots to this post but I will hold off for another day due to time.
I call this series my blue room project…It gets no cooler than this in DC.

They gave me the Azonto dance and I think Afia beat Nathan on this one.

This room was interesting. It’s called the color experimental room or something like that. It had 3 rooms filled the primary colors and the colors changed depending on what part of the room you were….anyways we played there a bit.

The Tour guide said if we close our eyes for a few seconds we would notice something about color….let’s say we didn’t get it but we tried![]()

Then we saw blue strips and played some more.

And since I’m on my way out…I think this image works..Boston here I come!
